Eye Exams
Eye exams and vision screenings are two different procedures. Vision screenings determine visual acuity and alignment. The visual screening helps determine if corrective lenses are necessary to help you see as clearly as possible. However, it is important to have regular and routine eye exams.
Eye examinations identify any problems that could result in vision loss. An examination looks at the overall health of your eyes and the visual system. Early treatment of eye disease improves your chances of preserving your vision.
Northern Vision Eye Care offers complete eye examinations for children and adults. Our physicians thoroughly examine your eyes and screen for a variety of medical eye problems.

LASIK Surgery
LASIK (Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis) surgery a method that uses a cool laser beam to reshape your cornea, which improves your vision. The method was developed in 1990 and has been used since then to correct vision problems such as farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism. In many cases, a patient can obtain 20/20 vision or better after receiving LASIK.
LASIK is quick and painless. Patients may experience minor eye irritation and tearing, but this is normal and does not last very long. Eye drops are used to anesthetize the eyes. There are no bandages or stitches to worry about after the procedure because there is no blade used during the procedure.
The procedure takes about 15 minutes to complete. Most patients can return to work, drive, and resume their daily lifestyle within 24 to 48 hours after surgery. Visual recovery is quick. Many patients notice an improvement in vision right away.

Cataracts
Cataracts can develop normally as we age, but they can also develop because of certain medical conditions, trauma, genetics, and exposure to ultraviolet light. Cataracts cause vision to become distorted and hazy. Some individuals may become more sensitive to bright lights, including sunlight and vehicle headlights, which can make driving more dangerous.
The only treatment for cataracts is to remove them surgically. Fortunately, cataract surgery has evolved over several decades. In many cases, cataract surgery is a quick and effective procedure for restoring vision. After the cataract is removed, an artificial lens is implanted in place of the cataract.
The doctors at Northern Eye Vision use the latest technology to perform cataract surgery. We can perform no-needle, no-stitch, no-drop cataract surgery on an outpatient basis in about five to ten minutes. Most patients return to normal activities and work with a day or two after surgery.
